Apple releases new MacBook

Whoever has held back on getting a MacBook with the hope that the next update for Apple's portable computers included Intel's "Santa Rosa" chipset, will have to keep waiting.

The company updated the machines with faster processors, more memory and hard drives with more storage space, but the upgrade does not include the fouth generation of the Centrino wireless platform.

The most accessible model, the $1,099 dll laptop with 13" inch monitor, incorporates an Intel Core 2 Duo processor at 2GHz, a frontal bus of 667 MHz and 1GB DDR2 SDRAM memory expandible to 2GB. Storage capacity augmented from 60 to 80 GB.

For $200 dlls more, the model that follows it in price and features inlcudes a 2.16 GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 120 GB hard disk and DVD 8X burner.

The $1,499 dlls model counts with a 2.16 GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 160GB Hard disk. It's about an update that improves functioning without affecting price.

Analysts hope that the generation of MacBooks equipped with Santa Rosa chipsets will be available in some months, since it's a change in architecture a little more radical that will probably be implemented in the MacBook Pro.
